Large damaged ornate frame that had been stored to allow wood damage, loss of design, cracking, missing parts and loss of gold patina with heavy dirty film. This before state required careful cleaning to protect gold brillance underneath the film of dirt. The restore required the re-casting of new sections with copy from other molded portions. Many hours of detail hand sculpting allowed for extra details needed in many areas. Additional reinforcement had to be added to corner joins and the outer/ backside wood had to be rebuilt in areas and conditioned to prevent further loss. We do so many various kinds of frames. This one restored to a brilliant original gold leaf and all details came out beautiful. A special crimson velvet inside border also existed that had special handling to prevent loss. We truly enjoy doing most any type of frame and can normally reach "perfection". For further details, send us an email by clicking on "Contact Us" on the home page.
